Cranwell Military Wives Choir
Cranwell Military Wives Choir was formed in 2012 by Nicola Swann, who is still a member today. Her vision was to create a community of ladies in the area who could come together with likeminded people to sing and socialise.
We currently have over 30 members who meet every week to rehearse and catch up. Our music repertoire ranges from wartime songs through to present day pop music. We do not require auditions to join, so everyone with a military connection is welcome. Our ethos is to sing, share and support. Many of our husbands are serving out of area, so by having the choir network we have constant support and friendships from ladies who understand. We have had a busy couple of years, performing in local communities, singing with Lulu on her tour, a tour of our own at Peterborough Cathedral, as well as Sheffield Cathedral and recently recording songs for a new album which will be out later this year. It is a very important year for us, with the RAF celebrating 100 years, of which we are delighted to be performing to celebrate such a cause. Our Musical Director has composed a piece titled “We Will Remember Them”, which we’ve had the pleasure of performing recently with the Band of the Royal Air Force College. We are very much looking forward to sharing it with you this year at the Blickling Prom. |
